Why people buy perfumes?

October 12, 2021

Ancient Egyptians first used scents and different aromas on things like religious ceremonies, burial services, and daily wear. The rich used to utilise it as a tool for social status – by creating an »aura of elegance«. When the Persians took over, they also held perfume in high regard and of great importance to the Persian noble society. And later, during the Roman empire, they began to view it as a form of art, which was often used as gifts to please other wealthy and important friends.

Nowadays, people mainly buy perfume because they think enjoy the aroma, but there are a whole lot of other benefits to purchasing your favourite bottled scent:

The comfort of »smelling clean«:

From the earliest times, fragrance has been employed to mask bad odors and fend off illness. Of course we now know a good personal hygiene has nothing to do with just wearing a perfume, however wearing one can make us feel clean, fresh, healthy and glowy and ready to take on the day.

Scent as a routine:

By establishing a daily routine, we can set aside time to take care of tasks and focus on our mental and physical health. Routines are essential at every stage of life – from childhood and adolescence to adulthood. They help us cope with change, create healthy habits, improve interpersonal relationships, and reduce stress. Spritzing your favorite perfume on every day, which makes you feel happy, excited or triggers certain childhood memories can be a great way of bringing all the happy emotions into your every day life.

Show your individuality:

With so many fragrances to choose from, a person can truly be original in what you decide to fragrance themselves with. You can change the way you smell to match your mood, the occasion, or anything you like. One day you can smell like a romantic rose and the next day, as your preference change, you can smell like splash of summer and citrus. The ability to have this kind of individuality through scent directly influences our confidence and self-esteem and can also be a great way of making little changes in our lives to make it a bit more interesting and exciting.
